Classes
This class, organized by Michel Nadai in his school in Agen is the first I have been teaching in France for 5 years.
After having taught at Ipedec for 12 years and having created amongst other things the 5 weeks mural class I have enriched my experience as a teacher by creating short classes ( two to ten days) in Sweden, Italy and the USA.
These short sessions have lead me to develop specific teaching and practical approaches that allowdoing a lot in a limited time span . My classes are designed in a way that allows any student who is willing to do so to complete the program during the class and thus leave the studio with a mural they can put in their portfolio right away or exhibit and sell.
I also make sure that all are free to work at their pace, no comparison , no competition, what matters to me is just that people find what they were looking for. The only thing I expect from students is commitment to the class. Indeed, a successfull class is not only due to the teacher's skills, it is a collaborative process. Students attention and energy are the raw material the teacher needs in order to make the best of each day.
Each session is based on a mural I create and which includes all the building blocks that are necessary to the growth of a professional mural painter. The goals are multiple but they fall down in two big categories.
The first one includes the techniques of rendering of volume, light and texture.They are the foundations of trompe l'oeil painting and they can be discovered through the study of different objects or architectural elements. The second one is about the rendering of depth, space and light as a means of structuring a composition .
Within these categories shall we find essential topics such as drawing, knowledge of values and colors, linear perspective , the subtleties of brush work and of the different consistencies of paint.
This two weeks class will allow us discover or re-discover all this , be prepared for two intense weeks which I hope will change the way you look at the beauties that surround us.
